Earth Day Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed for Earth Day events citywide

City staff are inviting Sacramento residents on April 5 to join clean-up and beautification events ahead of Earth Day.

The events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at various locations throughout the city.

  • California Lilac Park – planting, landscaping
  • Arcade Creek (*) in Del Paso Regional Park – trash pick-up
  • Red-Tail Hawk Park – planting, landscaping
  • Sacramento Marina – trash pick-up, beautification
  • Miller Park (*) – trash pick-up
  • Del Rio Trail (*) – trash, green waste pick-up
  • Artivio Guerrero Park – mulching, beautification
  • Freeport Park – planting, mulching, beautification
  • Basin (*) by Delta Shores shopping complex – trash pick-up

(*) These sites involve more advanced work and/or require about one mile of walking.

Individuals and groups can sign up to volunteer. Anyone under 16 must have parental consent and be accompanied by a parent or approved supervisor. Volunteers should wear sunscreen and appropriate work clothing and bring their own water. Snacks will be provided.

Tools for litter cleanup will be available but in limited supply. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own trash pickers and work gloves.

City staff are also inviting people to a separate Earth Day event on April 27 at Southside Park (700 T Street) that will feature over 100 exhibitors and vendors.
